Beltane: When The Serpent Speaks

Beltane is not merely a date on the calendar.

It is a threshold, a bonfire, a beckoning.

As the Wheel turns toward this cross-quarter sabbat—halfway between the Equinox and Solstice—the Earth pulses with wild rhythm. Sap surges. Blossoms open. Desire stretches its limbs in every corner of creation. This is not subtle magic. This is ecstatic magic. Fertile. Alive. Unapologetically erotic in its creativity.

But here at The Holy Witch, we approach Beltane not only through flower crowns and fire dances (though we welcome them)—we enter through the serpent gate.

Because this is not just a celebration of seasonal fertility.
It is a sacred uprising.

Beltane is the fire of becoming.
The moment the primordial current—what some call Kundalini, and what we call the Serpent of Truth—stirs in the spine, coils upward, and demands to be known.

This serpent? She is no stranger.
She is Lilith.

She is the one cast out, the one who refused to be silenced.
She is also the one who curled around the Tree of Knowing and whispered not temptation—but remembrance.

The truth we’ve been taught to exile.

When Eve stood before the serpent, she wasn’t meeting an enemy. She was meeting herself.
The deep-boned, soul-resonant voice of her own knowing saying:

“You are colluding with your own smallness.
Wake up.”

At The Holy Witch, this is our Beltane lore.

We don’t fear the garden. We reclaim it.
We don’t cast out the serpent. We become her.
We don’t demonize desire. We honor it as holy fire—the kind that births galaxies and stirs worlds into being.

This festival isn’t just about lighting a fire in the woods.
It’s about lighting the fire in your soul.

It is about the wild convergence of:

  • the sun in the sky and the sun in your belly
  • the serpent in the tree and the serpent in your spine
  • the divine union of masculine and feminine, within and without
  • the creative impulse that says: I am here. I am alive. I will not be tamed.

Lilith, as patroness of our path, lives in this Beltane flame.

She is the wild breath behind your voice when you speak your truth. She is the pulse of your art, your erotic longing, your refusal to be flattened into palatability. She is the one who dances through fire and says:

“You were not made to be quiet.
You were made to be sovereign.”

And so this Beltane, we invite you to listen.

To the rising. To the rustle of the serpent in your garden. To the ancient fire in your bones. To the way your hips move like rivers, like rebellion, like rites of return.

This is a sabbat for the awakening. For the witches who are ready to burn off the lie of smallness.

For the women who are ready to return—not to sin, but to self.

Because when the serpent speaks,
when the fire comes,
when Beltane breathes through you—

May you not flinch.
May you rise.
