Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius, December 14th, 2020

  • New Moon : 23° Sagittarius 08’
  • Date: December 14th @ 11:16 AM ET / 8:16 AM PST
  • Element: Fire
  • Modality: Mutable
  • Ruler: Jupiter

An eclipse of the Sun can only occur during a New Moon, which is when the luminaries are in a perfect conjunction and the lunar disk is completely overshadowed. This is because as it stands between Earth and the Sun, the solar rays can only reach the far side of the Moon, occurring about every 29.5 days. However, when they are in a perfect alignment and the New Moon crosses the ecliptic, which is the path of the Sun around our celestial sphere, we have a Solar Eclipse. This event is produced because as the Moon passes in front of the Sun, it blocks the solar rays from reaching us, casting an umbra on Earth.

For instance, a Total Solar Eclipse occurs when it entirely obscures the Sun’s light, allowing only the fainter corona to be visible. This produces darkness during day time in the places where the shadow was cast. However, an Annular Solar eclipse happens when the Moon leaves only the outer edges of the Sun visible, forming a ring of fire that encircles the Dark Moon.

Eclipses are loaded with the pulling force of the lunar nodes since they can only happen when the Sun & Moon are close to them. Thus, as they are always sitting in opposing signs, eclipses occur about every six months and in two opposite astrological seasons. They’re the North (Dragon’s head) and the South Node (Dragon’s tail), invisible points that indicate where eclipses occur which is when the lunar orbit intersects with the ecliptic. Astrologically, they have a powerful significance and that’s that they are karmic points that act as portals that bring outflowing new energy, opportunities and open a new and unexplored path (North Node) while closing the doors to the past and dissolving what can no longer remain (South Node).

Solar Eclipses triple the energy of a New Moon as their effects are much longer, intense and profound because of the influence of the lunar nodes, lasting for approximately six months. For instance, if a New Moon represents the beginning of a new emotional cycle, a Solar Eclipse represents a cosmic reset and announces a complete new beginning.

Eclipses of the Sun that happen beside the Dragon’s head, which is the point of intake and destiny, open new doors, bring fated changes and increase activity to the area of life in which it transits in our chart, leading us to find a new purpose. Collectively, it augurs that the world is shifting its focus to the matters of what that zodiac sign and its planetary ruler represents and it’s inviting us to vibrate more in its energy to balance it out with the opposite sign.

In contrast, when they fall in the sign of the South Node, the point of karmic dissolution and surrender, it calls for a change of form in the area in which it transits in our chart. It invites us to dissolve, sacrifice or release matters there in order to bring in change and connect with a higher purpose. It’s the same for the collective, something around the themes of that sign and what its planetary lord represents is being dissolved and released and we will see this manifest materially after this cycle was initiated or during the lunar eclipse that comes in the opposite astrological season. In addition, as the Sun represents authority and it’s obscured by the Moon, it represents the “the eclipse” or the fall of someone in power.

The New Moon/ total solar eclipse will occur at 23 degrees Sagittarius, a fire and mutable sign ruled by Jupiter, which is currently in the last degrees of capricorn. Therefore, this lunar event will be initiating a new karmic cycle and it will be opening a new chapter in our lives in which the old, restrictive and regressive (capricorn) beliefs, paradigms, narratives, ideologies and perspectives (sagittarius) will be going down the Dragons’s tail in this six month cycle. This is coming from the changes in paradigms and in communications that the North Node in Gemini has been bringing since May 2020.

The fact that this Solar Eclipse will be conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius, the lord of the past Lunar Eclipse and the North node in Gemini, but that’s in the sign of its exile beside the South Node, emphasizes that this new beginning is about letting go of the dark side of communications vibrating in Sagittarius themes. The dark side of this sign is that it believes it has an absolute truth and this forms ideologies and beliefs that create social division as we’ve seen with religion, politics, racism and classism. In addition, as the Solar Eclipse and the Lunar Nodes are squaring Neptune it further hints that the delusions, conspiracies, optimism bias and the beliefs not based on facts and reality reigning at the moment, will also be going down the South Node’s drain.

Further, Jupiter is just a few days before finally entering Aquarius and making its grand conjunction with Saturn on December 21st. For instance, from this lunar event comes a complete energetic shift and an entrance to an Aquarius era, in which our perspective (Mercury) and our beliefs (Sagittarius) will be changing in order to adapt (mutable) to a new reality (Grand Conjunction).

In addition, this Solar Eclipse will also be bringing the fall of false gurus and prophets and the fall of someone in power since Solar Eclipses always represents authority/masculine energy (Sun) being obscured. In antiquity these events were feared because they coincided with the death of the king, though now it’s mostly not literal and more like a symbolic death.

As expressed in the previous report, the Lunar Eclipse in Gemini was actually the preamble of this lunar event, for during that time only the lunar nodes were the ones squaring deceiving Neptune. However, during the Solar Eclipse, the luminaries will be making this exact aspect and now a new cycle initiates extending the influence of this cosmic configuration. Hence, they’re reflecting that current confusion that the collective is currently feeling at the moment, despite maybe having the answers right in front of us. Further, they’re also highlighting the collective divisiveness as to who holds the absolute truth and which side is on the right or disillusioned side. Nonetheless, this is precisely what the collective will be dissuading for six months with this solar eclipse and also the beliefs that create more division.

Thus, this is when Jupiter and Saturn will come with their grand conjunction in Aquarius, one week after the Solar Eclipse, initiating a new era in which all groups, despite their ideological and political differences, will come together for the common goal to bring progress and innovation to society and rebuild what collapsed during 2020.

The merging of these two will be happening in the 0 degree of Aquarius. Thus, not only does it mark the beginning of an almost 200 year cycle of these conjunctions happening in Air signs (Aquarius, Libra & Gemini) about every 20 years, but it also begins in the first degree of a sign, which is a number that represents new beginnings.

Aquarius is the sign of groups and the collective, the sign of science, the internet, technology and electricity. Therefore, with Aquarius energy reigning, while the North Node, point of intake and destiny, will be in Gemini and with Mercury Retrograde now happening in Air signs in 2021, we can expect to see technological innovations, progress in science and for almost everything to become fully digital. Remember that this comes after the fall of structures of the reigning Capricorn energy in 2020.

The old structures that we used to sustain on collapsed with the South Node, point of dissolution, Pluto, the planet of death and transformation conjunct Saturn and Jupiter. Therefore, we will now be rebuilding everything through the themes of Aquarius so that it has a stronger and indestructible foundation. Hence, digital transformation is here to stay.

This Solar Eclipse represents a new beginning coming from what we will be leaving behind. Remember that it marks the start of the energetic shift that comes with the grand conjunction between Saturn and a Jupiter in Aquarius. Thus, as the lord of this eclipse, Jupiter, is still in Capricorn, we will still be vibrating in its old heavy energy, but that’s about to die. Therefore, this week we’re in a period of transition, making it the most perfect time to do a complete purging of the old energy lingering, to break free from outdated beliefs in order to begin following your new vision and to reflect on the lessons you learned in 2020 with this Capricorn Stellium.

Where the Solar Eclipse will be transiting in your chart indicates the area of life that will be meeting significant changes coming from a change of perspectives or beliefs and from December 21st to all 2021, it will be calling for you to break free from the norm, expand your horizons and to reinvent yourself in that area of life. However, with that will come sacrifice or things that need to be left behind first that no longer serve you.

This is where the Solar Eclipse will be transiting and where it opens a six month cycle in which you may be meeting the changes stated above.
