ABOUT LUNAR ECLIPSES

Lunar eclipses happen during a Full Moon, which is when the luminaries are in an exact opposition and Earth comes between them. It occurs when the Moon enters Earth’s Shadow and the sun’s light is completely or partially blocked from reaching the Moon. This results with a reddish lunar surface that was refracted by Earth’s atmosphere. A total lunar eclipse happens when the Moon enters the umbra, but when these cosmic spheres are in an imperfect alignment, and the Moon is at the penumbra (the outer part of Earth’s shadow), it’s called a penumbral eclipse. Lunar Eclipses happens only a few times a year because it can only occur when the luminaries are close to a lunar node, which is a mathematical point where eclipses occur as it’s when the Moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic.

ECLIPSES EFFECTS FROM THE ASTROLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE

Symbolically speaking, considering that Earth’s penumbral shadow is cast upon the Moon in its climax, it’s a time when the shadow side and the things that were hidden are illuminated. In addition, the effects of this lunar events are said to be three times stronger than the Full or New Moons. Solar eclipses mark a new beginning, whilst Lunar Eclipses mark a time of culmination and endings.

However, these events of the luminaries have a more profound meaning and that is that they trigger karmic events that can last months, years or a lifetime. Generally, when it happens in the South Node, the collective is called to dissuade or things end by itself. When it happens with the North Node it illuminates us the path we need to follow as it aligns us to the path of our purpose through the endings that the South Node brings.

PENUMBRAL LUNAR ECLIPSE IN SAGITTARIUS

The Full Moon will occur at 15 degrees of Sagittarius, a fiery and mutable sign ruled by Jupiter. This lunar event will be a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse as it will happen in the same sign as the South Node. For instance, since it’s an eclipse of the lunar node known as “the point of dissolution”, it’s one of endings. In addition, although Full Moon’s are more of a climax of the lunar cycle instead of the end of it, Lunar Eclipses actually represent the ending of a karmic cycle.

Therefore, as there are two aspects of it that indicate this, it makes this lunar event a time for a deep purge of what the South Node in Sagittarius rules. However, this is the first eclipse of the Sagittarius-Gemini axis and more so considering that it’s a Penumbral eclipse and not a total one, it actually marks the beginning of the endings it will bring.

ECLIPSE SEASON & MUNDANE EVENTS.

On May 22nd, we had the New Moon in Gemini and this lunar event, as expressed in the last report, initiated eclipse season. When the season of eclipses is at play it means that its effects will begin to present themselves. For instance, the protest against racism is correlated to this event, for what the collective will be invited to release with the South Node in Sagittarius are precisely the beliefs that have systematically oppressed some of us and separated us all.

This is because Sagittarius rules beliefs and religion, and the dark side of this sign is it believes its truth is the absolute truth. Racism, xenophobia, sexism and religious fanaticism are a result of this. With the South Node in this sign, from May 2020-January 2022, the shadow side of Sagittarius will be under scrutiny in order for the collective to begin releasing it. As with the North Node in Gemini, the collective will be called to embrace diversity, to acknowledge we are all equal despite our superficial differences. Additionally, that we will be called to help one another, for at the end of the day, we’re all brothers and sisters born from Mother Earth and neighbors since we all live in the same planet.

JUPITER, RULER OF THIS LUNAR ECLIPSE

The ruler of the Full Moon is Jupiter, which is currently in Capricorn conjunct Pluto. For instance, this event is still correlated to the fall of structures that Saturn & Jupiter conjunct Pluto have brought since the beginning of 2020. Only that because it’s a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius and that now the South Node (point of dissolution) is in this sign, it represents the fall of structures that have been built based on beliefs.

FULL MOON OPPOSITE VENUS RETROGRADE

The Full Moon will be right opposite the Sun and Venus conjunction, bringing to culmination and an emotional climax to the Venus Retrograde transit, making it a potent time to release while the new begins to manifest and emerge. On June 3rd we met the Venus Star Point as the Sun and Venus’s inferior conjunction punctuates one point of the five pointed star it makes in an eight year period. Since Venus is invisible in the sky overshadowed by the Sun’s rays, this aspect is analog to the myth of goddess Inanna in her descent to the underworld when she was killed by her sister Ereshkigal, representing her shadow.

THIS FULL MOON MARKS A POTENT TIME TO RELEASE

This means that during this Full Moon, Venus will be deep in the underworld waiting for her rebirth as a Morning Star. However, she will not appear in the sky until June 10th. Hence, as the Moon opposites Venus while she’s still in her cocoon phase, it makes it a potent time for banishment, releasing, for stripping from fears, from the masks that hide your authentic self and for integrating the shadow. Venus Retrograde will emerge a new version of ourselves or revamp and area of our lives. Thus, this Full Moon is an opportunity to release what is no longer aligned with our vision and our reoriented set of values and desires because that’s what has been under revision during Venus Retrograde.

Moreover, this opposition faces our emotions (Moon) with our new conscious desires (Sun conjunct Venus) in the Gemini-Sagittarius axis. Hence, it will be illuminating what we no longer desire or what doesn’t serves us anymore coming from what Sagittarius rules. Inviting us to introspect on our beliefs, because it will be coming with a change of perspectives as a new vision emerges due to the new cycles initiating in Gemini. Remember that Venus Retrograde will call for us to align with our soul’s desires. Hence, the Full Moon will be illuminating those that are no longer a part of our purpose and that are not aligned with who we truly are.

FULL MOON SQUARE MARS & NEPTUNE

The Lunar Eclipse will also be exactly squaring Mars, the planet of war, action and will. Mars is currently in Pisces close to exactly conjunct Neptune on June 13th. Venus has been squaring Mars and Neptune, meaning that it will be inviting us to shed the inauthentic and the false in our lives. The Full Moon joining in this square indicates that it will finally be illuminating where we have been under an illusion, dismantling the veils and stripping the masks that has prevent us to the see the inner truth.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

The next two weeks after this Lunar Eclipse is an excellent time to begin purging, releasing and cleansing as eclipses happening with the South Node invite us to dissolve what no longer serves. In addition, collectively and individually, we’re all under the metamorphosis process that Venus Retrograde will bring in an area of our lives, which will realign us to the path of our purpose as Venus will end its transit through Gemini by making a conjunction to the North Node, the point of destiny.

Considering also that Earth’s penumbral shadow will be cast upon the Moon and that Venus will be in its cocoon phase, it makes it a time for retreating and for turning within. This Lunar Eclipse may also come with a change of perspectives, a change of beliefs and horizons because it’s happening with the luminaries being in the mutable signs Gemini and Sagittarius.

It may come with lessons and with a revealing of what needs to change or be released in the area of life the Lunar Eclipse will be transiting in your chart. This is order for the new to come in the house where the Sun, Venus and the North Node in Gemini are transiting. For instance, two opposite houses in our chart are being activated by this lunar event, making it ideal to introspect on what needs to change and be released in the area of life that the Moon and the South Node are transiting.
