ABOUT THE DARK/ BALSAMIC PHASE

The Waning Dark Moon is the phase when it’s still displaying a thin silver line, at the verge of becoming invisible in the night sky as it approaches the Sun. Symbolically, it represents the declining phase of the cycle of life, beginning two nights before the New Moon, which is when it has lost all of its illumination. Thus, this phase prepares us for the rebirth and new beginning that comes after the exact conjunction of the two luminaries.

RETURNING TO THE CAVE

The Waning Dark Moon represents the time when we’re heading back to the cave, when we return from our journey through the outside and head towards our inner/underworld. As the energies decay, we are invited to rest, recharge, put an end to negative cycles and habits, break old patterns, release from energetic or body toxins, banish what we want out or cut the cords that attach us to the past. It’s when we enter the Crone phase, commune with the Dark Goddess and meet with our shadow side.

THE WANING DARK MOON OF ARIES SEASON

The Waning Dark Moon of Aries Season begins in Pisces, a water and mutable sign ruled by mystical Neptune and Jupiter. The first New Moon of the astrological year, happening on April 11th, will occur with a stellium in Aries, with the Sun, the Moon, Mercury and Venus falling in this fiery sign ruled by Mars, meaning that it will come with an intense action oriented energy, igniting a fire within that will impulse us to go towards our goals and objectives courageously. The New Moon in Pisces, which happened before the start of the equinox, filled us with inspiration, made us envision our dreams and came with a new vision and the desire to manifest it. Thus, with the New Moon in Aries the waiting is over, it will finally be time to take action on these dreams and ideas and become the masters of our reality.

For instance, the Waning Dark Moon in Pisces invites us to turn within, introspect and review our last New Moon intentions. If our ideas are still clouds floating in our mind, it’s then perfect to write or make a plan so that you’re prepared for this new start and before initiating action on your goals and/or projects. The energies will still be low, asking for us to retreat and rest and so making it excellent to tap into the visionary qualities of Pisces to find inspiration once again, meditate on our vision, organize all our ideas and gain clarity on what we will be working towards with the Waxing Moon.

THE DECAYING PHASE AFTER THE FULL MOON IN LIBRA

This is also a time for emotional healing, for letting go and detoxing in order to restore our energetic, emotional and material body. This is the decaying phase after the Full Moon in Libra, a lunar event that illuminated the wounds of the ego, made us conscious about what we should heal and what we should resolve in order to bring peace and harmony into our lives and our relationships. For instance, now the energies are the most powerful to release what was revealed that no longer serves, for there is a cycle that’s being restarted with the New Moon and so it’s important to make sure that a situation is closed so that this new cycle reflects a new beginning and not a repetition of the old.

ACTIVITIES AND RITUALS WITH THE WANING DARK MOON IN PISCES & ARIES

The New Moon in Aries will be happening in a square with Pluto and so it will be challenging us to confront our fears, our shadow and destructive habits for the purpose of liberation, a sense of freedom that comes after the healing. For instance, when the Moon changes to Aries and conjuncts Chiron, it will make us address the feelings we may have been avoiding, making this Waning Moon also perfect for shadow work, banishing rituals, healing and purging from the old.

The Waning Dark Moon will be in Pisces from April 7th to the early hours of the 10th. As it will be conjuncting Neptune, it makes it excellent for consulting the oracle, for divination, meditation, visualization, turning your dreams into plans, releasing, dissolving, detoxing and for introspection. On the 10th, one day before the end & start of the lunar cycle, in which the Moon will be at 1% illumination, it will be changing to Aries and merging with Chiron, the wounded healer, making it a highly a cathartic and emotional time that will be bringing the needed healing in order to start anew and rise from the ashes with the New Moon in Aries.
